ODESZA - It’s Only

A music video that takes a journey through familiar moments in history. Directed by Dan Brown and produced at World Famous Inc. in Seattle, WA.

This was one of my first deep dives into Visual Effects and live action compositing. I had done work with Nuke and compositing 3D renders onto live action plates before, but this was a much deeper level than I had done previously. I tackled numerous scenes using 3D tracking, 3D modeling, matte painting, smoke and pyro simulation, and traditional compositing techniques. From animating elephants to painting out fans in the background, I was given a lot of responsibility on this project in a variety of different disciplines. Although I do not work on VFX projects often anymore, this music was one of the first projects that helped set me on a trajectory to develop more technical skills and introduced me into the world of Houdini, a software package that I still use heavily today. To see a breakdown of a small selection of the scenes that I worked on, watch the video below.
